Check out the new novella  by Elise Marion! I entered this giveaway.

Product Description
In a world full of the sick and dying, the hurting and desperate, and those lost in darkness, angels dwell. An angel of healing, Amir has spent centuries performing miracles for people hovering at the very edge of death.

A professional ballerina, Shayla lives her life to dance. Abandoned by her family, she is alone in the world yet determined to pursue her dream. When a car accident leaves Shayla in critical condition and in danger of never dancing again, it seems that all hope is lost.

Amir enters Shayla’s life intending to heal her, but when he sees her laying in her hospital bed fighting for her life, something unfamiliar resounds within him. A stranger to desire and love, Amir is drawn to Shayla like a moth to a flame despite the fact that the rules of heaven forbid angels to engage in romantic relationships with mortals. Should he give in to temptation he will become one of the “Fallen”, demons cursed to the depths of hell for eternity.

As his desire for Shayla rises to fever pitch, Amir will face the choice between love and damnation, or loneliness and divinity. Will an angel who has roamed the earth alone for centuries choose to continue on the path of righteousness, or will he fall captive to his burning desires and be forever damned?

The Third Son (Kings of Cardenas) by Elise Marion

What a captivating historical romance! Come along to Cardena and meet Damian, Esmeralda, and the royal court. You won't be disappointed!

Product Description

Prince Damien, the spoiled youngest son of the king of Cardenas, finds that his world will never quite be the same again when a fiery Gypsy girl, Esmeralda, comes dancing into his privileged life.

Rake. Rogue. Scoundrel. Each of these words has been used to describe Damien Largess, youngest prince of Cardenas, most frequently by his ridiculously somber eldest brother. Damien is perfectly content to spend his days drinking at the card tables, and his nights in the bed of his scheming mistress, especially since doing these things seems to vex his high-handed brother to no end. But when he steps into a glittering ballroom on the night of his twenty-fifth birthday, the roguish young prince’s life will be forever changed.

Beautiful. Graceful. Sensual. When Esmeralda steps into the center of the King’s ballroom to perform for his youngest son’s birthday, every eye in the room is glued to the tall, lithe Gypsy dancer. One pair of eyes seems to burn straight through her, and though she has worked endlessly to shield her heart, she finds her defenses slowly slipping away in the presence of the handsome prince. She cannot resist his devastating charm, nor is she immune to the earth shattering desire in his kiss. As she falls rapidly under his spell, Esmeralda dares to hope for a future she would never have thought possible.

With a deadly plot against the royal family surrounding him in danger and intrigue, Damien will face a decision he never thought he would have to make. Would he step up to claim a responsibility that should never have fallen to the third son? Or will he abandon it to risk all for love?

***

My thoughts:

Prince Damien knows his eldest brother Lionus will be king, and next in line is Serge who will be general of Cardenas' military, and Damien is...the third son. He is royalty and lives a pampered life; enjoying his life with no major responsibilities. He's labeled a playboy. He doesn't think marriage can make anybody happy and uses his parents marriage as an example. His world changes when he meets a beautiful gypsy girl at his birthday party. And let me tell you, they share some hot kisses! *fans myself* (And Davina his mistress, thought she had him hook, line, and sinker. Even with her big surprise!)

I love how Damien showed her what a telescope was as he pointed out various constellations. So sexy! We see a softer side to this prince that makes you want to fall in love with him too. Underneath all his foolish play lies a man who just has a desire for a more fulfilling life. I don't want to give away the plot, but twists and turns will surprise you and Damien is faced with the hardest decision of his life.

This is more than a Cinderella story about a rich prince and a gypsy girl. Are they destined for love or simply two star crossed lovers? The passion and chemistry between them is amazing and I was gripped by the plot from the very beginning. The writing moves along at a great pace too.

A beautiful love story that stole my heart. *sighs in awe*

Winter's Captive by June Bourgo

Georgia Charles travels to the Yukon to distance herself from a cheating, manipulative husband. While struggling with the idea of her newly discovered pregnancy, she's kidnapped by bank robbers who flee to north-western British Columbia. Here, she escapes into an area known as the last frontier.
Hopelessly lost in this vast, undeveloped wilderness, she pushes her way through a raging snowstorm and discovers a cabin. Georgia's happy to have escaped her captors, but she's trapped by days of blizzards and becomes a prisoner of Mother Nature.
Her will to survive is tested as she struggles through a harsh winter in the wilds. Faced with a lack of survival skills, she reaches the brink of emotional breakdown.

She's forced to confront her fears of childbirth alone and the possibility of complications. She envisions an angel, imaginary or real, who helps her discover her inner power.
Can Georgia unearth a maternal strength to save herself and her unborn child? Or will she perish?

Winter's Captive is a compelling, heroic story of one woman's survival against all odds.

  • Publisher: Asteroid Publishing, Incorporated

  • I'm so pleased to announce that Winter's Captive by June Bourgo is going to be released soon!

    My thoughts:

When Georgia receives the shock of her life, she gets in a car and heads off to put some space between her and her cheating husband. Not only has he cheated, but he has gotten his mistress pregnant. And he has no idea she's pregnant too. While on a pit stop, she is an eyewitness to two bank robbers who have just robbed a bank. They abduct her to keep their idenity a secret. Georgia escapes into the middle of nowhere through a blizzard and finds shelter. Thinking she will only be there temporary, she settles into the cabin. The snow never lets up and, finally, she learns the reality of the situation-she is snowed in until spring. Not only does Georgia learn survival skills to stay alive, but she goes on a deep soul searching journey to heal and be at peace.

But even at peace, Georgia faces the biggest battle of her life-the battle to stay alive, to eat, to drink water, stay warm, and fight off wild animals. Georgia finds an inner strength, courage, and determination all women will admire. I couldn't put this book down and fell in love with Georgia and I felt like I was right there with her as she fought to survive. I loved how she handled situations and her personality is spunky. You will find yourself, laughing, crying, and rooting for Gerorgia from beginning to end. It's a fantastic read and I recommend it to everyone. I'm looking forward to book 2 by this author.

Review of "A Job From Hell"

A Job From Hell is a fast paced, intriguing, paranormal thriller complete with richly-developed conflict, a fantastic plot, romance, mystery, humor, and amazing characters, loaded with exciting twists and turns at every angle. This author drew me into a completely different world of legend and myth, and I was completely fascinated and totally connected to every character, but especially Amber, a very likable, independent, and down to earth heroine. She never thought taking a summer temp position as a housekeeper would be dangerous, but when she is thrust into Aiden's dangerous and secretive world, winning the coveted Prize, life will never be the same.

The taxi driver is beyond rattled when he has to drop off Amber in an isolated area at a beautiful and mysterious mansion in Scottland. He says the place is cursed. She needs the money, so she ignores his warning. Amber doesn't believe in stupid myths.

Her first day begins and she finds the house spotless. So she occupies herself by reading books in the library and snooping a little which leads to question after question. When she learns she has to cook, she is mortified. And when she makes her first meal for the hunky new boss, he turns up his nose at her dish. She wonders if it's more than just her bad cooking. Less than a week into her new job, her brother Dallas stops by with a hair-brained idea of stealing a stash of jewels hidden in the woods. They'll be rich beyond belief and all of their problems will melt away. Little does she know that touching those jewels will be the beginning of ALL of her problems. Amber throws the stones into her backpack when she realizes she is being stalked. She is chased and runs for her life. Her destiny has been set because she's won first place in a paranormal race that happens every five hundred years. The Prize isn't a trophy, but a gift she'd rather not have--a gift immortals would kill for: the power to travel to the otherworld and talk to the dead. And now Amber has a target on her back, and being human makes her easy prey. Immortals will hunt her down for the rest of her life. She'll never be safe no matter where she goes.

But Aiden, her sexy boss, has a plan to save her life. But she must enter his dangerous world and sometimes, things aren't what they seem. Getting to know him, his brother, and his friends only raises more questions. She doesn't know who to trust or what to do. Her mind screams she should run for the nearest exit, but her heart holds her hostage. Aiden and she are bonded mates. She has awaited him unknowingly her entire life. Amber can't explain it, but she feels the bond strongly. Aiden and Amber start to explore their feelings for one another. But is he just after her gift, too, like every other Immortal out there. Is his love a lie? Is she a pawn in his game? She has the gift he'd kill for--literally. To make matters worse, a beautiful, insane demi-goddess is in love with Aiden, and when she finds out Aiden has found his true mate, she adds to the mayhem by trying to kill Amber.

Aiden is thrown into an immortal dungeon to be tortured for centuries. Amber strikes a deal with Aiden's enemy behind his back--a deal Aiden would never approve of--to save his life and rescue him. A deal written in blood, that she will honor, taking her away from Aiden and everyone she loves forever.

When she learns how dangerous Aiden really is, she questions his motives. Time is running out. The Immortals are closing in on her. There is nowhere to turn. Nowhere to run. Nowhere to hide. Amber will NEVER be safe again...unless she risks her own life...and does something drastic....

I enjoyed this book immensely and the fantastic storyline will keep you guessing until the very end. The surprise ending came together in such an exciting way, you're cheering and rooting for the heroes. On the last page you're going to blink...and say....no way! This book can be enjoyed by young adults, as well as adults. Suspenseful, humorous, romantic, and above all, beautifully written and wonderfully told. This book did not disappoint and promises to be a paranormal favorite! I eagerly await the next book in this series!!!!!!

    This book looks awesome!

Rascals Sing at The Opera House.

Rascals Sing at The Opera House.

(Adventures of Rascals, Polly and Gertie)

     [Kindle Edition]

    by Patricia Puddle

    Product Description

Polly and Gertie can't wait to go to the singing festival to compete with other schools. After all, they're going to the Opera House. And that means they'll be famous.

When Miss Badger bans Polly from the choir for singing out of tune, Gertie refuses to go to the festival without her best friend. The headmistress, Mrs Godbolt, can't have that because Gertie is the best singer in the whole school. Polly comes up with a brilliant idea. She says she's a great actress and could easily mime instead of singing. But Miss Badger is horrified. She tells the headmistress that Polly is a walking disaster. After all, she hung her wet underpants on the windowsill to dry and stunk out the classroom. And if they let her go to the Opera House, she’d only wee-wee on the stage and embarrass the whole school.

Well, no way is Polly letting that meanie teacher stop her from going to the festival. How else can she become famous? And she's not leaving Mange behind either. After all, Great Aunt Mabel is back and she doesn't like dogs. She'd only stick him in the shed with the chook poo and feed him fish heads for dinner.

    ***

Oh my gosh, this author does it again! This is one of my favorite children's authors. My kids and I couldn't stop laughing at all of Polly and Gertie's antics. We get to see mean old auntie again. LOL. And let me tell you, she's mean indeed! Back with her horrible dishes that you couldn't pay me to eat in a million years. (tripe) The gals go the opera house and bring a special guest of the furry kind. They even make the Saturday News. You'll just love this adventure so much! The girls bring the usual humor and will keep you rolling. One of my favorite parts is when Gertie grabs the microphone and starts singing a Justin Beiber song. My kids made me read that entire scene like 10 times!

You're going to love this one!!!! Especially the drawings. They are so cute and funny! My favorite part too. This is definitely worth 5 stars and I'd recommend it for kids and adults!

                                John Wheatley

Author, teacher, plumber - in that order at the moment. Writer of
historical fiction set in Anglesey. North Wales.

    ***

Hi John. Welcome to The Purple Brick Road. Please tell me about your book.

“The Weeping Sands” is a historical/genealogical quest novel set on the isle of Anglesey, North Wales. It has three interwoven stories of love and loss, spanning four centuries, from the English Civil War to present day. A ruined mansion, and the Lavan Sands [the sands of weeping] provide the link between past and present.

That sounds wonderful. What`s your next project?

Another historical novel, this time with a time travel dimension. A young man, rescued from a shipwreck, [Anglesey again!] begins to fall in love with the daughter of the family who look after him. He finds himself following her into episodes from the past, reliving disturbing events linked to an ancient Welsh myth.

    Tom or Jerry?

Tom. What amazing powers of recovery!

You’re right about that one. What’s your favorite cartoon character?

Mulan – what a girl! Love that clumsiness at the beginning.

If you were a tree what would it be?

“Oh, chestnut tree, great rooted blossomer…”

If you could choose to be any food what would it be?

A vanilla slice. Two  pieces of  blitz puff  pastry generously filled with vanilla custard, and topped with icing sugar. Deliciously messy to eat.
If you could have a superpower what would it be?

There have been one or two occasions in my life when I have desperately wanted the power to heal another person. But it could become addictive!

That would be a cool superpower. What would you do if you had a time-machine?

Hey, I`m a historical novelist, this question isn`t fair!!! Though it might beat using the web for research!

    Where was your best vacation?

Aix-en-Provence, South of France, Easter.  Age 18. Fell in love, was fallen in love with. God pointed his finger at me and said, let him know what the best thing is to be alive for.

Sing in the rain or dance in the street?

In the rain, both dancing and singing. Make a splash!

What music are you listening to?

    Sarah McClachlan.

Oh, I love her! Most frequent song played?

    Angel.

Awesome song. When is your birthday?

December 21 – the winter solstice. The snow was falling deep and my mum sent my dad out into the cold to find the midwife. I was born at home, with a big fire blazing.

Should people eat the fish they catch or throw them back?

They should kill only the fish they are going to eat. This shows respect to the fish. The trouble is that try as I might, I never catch any!

    Where does your family live?

Cheadle Hulme, a leafy suburb of that vibrant city Manchester, England. Two hours down the road to beautiful Anglesey.

If you throw a blue stone into a blue sea, what will it become?

You`ll find the answer to this in Chrissy Peeble`s next novel, and believe me, it will be astonishing.

    You’re funny, John!

What a "FUN" interview! Thanks, John, for visiting "FUN" Interviews on The Purple Brick Road. It was a pleasure to have you. And a big thank you to everyone who tuned in.
